stillness.

stillness begins when movement gives way to attention.

these photographs look at places and moments in which little appears to happen, yet something remains suspended: a structure, a landscape, a surface marked by time, a space holding its breath.

i am interested not in silence as an absence, but in the tension contained within it, the pause before something happens, or perhaps after it has already happened.

light, texture and repetition become ways of suggesting time without describing it. spaces are stripped of narrative and allowed to exist at their own pace.

stillness is not emptiness. it is a moment of attention in which the ordinary becomes unfamiliar, and the passing of time can almost be felt.
